Old world is the best !

It's been quite a while since i blogged (I  really should start being more regular! )..The thing is, i was out of station for a week on a mini pilgrimage to a few temple towns of Tamil Nadu ( and then i got home and viral fever struck me :P ..maybe i angered the gods with my laziness and frequent procrastination .. hmm ... must give that some thought LATER! ) ... Anyway, we stayed at this gorgeous restored 1896 Tanjore village ..it was very peaceful and it reminded me of my own native place quite a bit (the smell of cow dung especially :P ). The reception was the best . We walked to the reception room amid drum beats ( Haha that was a bit too much but fun though ! ) .We were given  cold cloth wipes for our face and some refreshing fruit juice. After that  , it was time for some quick foot massage with some thailam ...Ahhh it felt sooo good !! Then we were escorted to our room and fell asleep and woke up just in time  for dinner .The food was simple fare - rice and bland curries (I'm so used to eating spicy food that i felt like i was on a patient's diet !! ) .After dinner , we walked around the resort . Everything about the place felt very pure .. no pollution , just clean air and lots of trees !!! Even the rooms have this nice feel to them that modern homes don't .. Roof tiles made of clay , no artificial paints , floors made of stone and red oxide .. Ah! I want a house like that ! What's more, the River Cauvery flows through the resort ! It was wonderful staying there , i just didn't feel like leaving !
Anyway ,a few  random pics below!

The reception  room
The massage place at the reception :)
Got the most AMAZING foot massage with a herbal thailam as soon as we arrived!  In two minutes , all the weariness was gone and i was excessively jumpy!

Our room! :)...It's actually a thatched hut! Everything was so old and familiar :)

Artifacts on the  bedside table :P...the slate and the 'balpam' or chalk was my fave!

Self explanatory! :P

A cosy nook!

Even the bathoom was rustic :)

Entrance to the restaurant!

Random terracotta horses somewhere in the resort

I don't really know what purpose these pillars serve but they look beautiful :)
Okay, that's all for now ! More pics later ! cya :)

  3. The pics seem as if they are from a movie set. And the place seems awesome too with thatch roofs, carts, rotary dialing phone and the slate and chalk piece causing a nostalgia.
